Default Eickhorn sabre with arabian eagle etched?

    Hi everyone!

I received a German sabre but I'm not so sure about what to think of it.
Do you guys think it's a genuine old sabre?
I'm not so sure because of:
-the lion's mouth opening is very simple (square)
-on the blade there is a 'Hawk of Quraish' (arabian eagle) etched. Bit ofcourse, this is te space on the blade where one can choose an etching when ordering a sabre I assume?

    I would appreciate your opinions!
    Thanks in advance

the Etching under the hawk looks like it might be a tight spelling of " إتحاد الجمهوريات العربية " or "The Union of Arab Republics" to me. Etching also seems like it isnt centered up well?

It's not very well centered indeed.
I don't really get it why this would be on the sabre.
Maybe someone ordered it with this etching? But then it's strange the etching is off center.
Do you guys think the sabre itself is genuine or is the entire sabre just a replica?

Probably the short-lived Federation of Arab Republics, so Libya, Egypt, Syria, during the 1970’s. Federation of Arab Republics - Wikipedia

I think it’s real, but not as old as you thought.

By 1970 dating which could be real question remains the Eickhorn logo? as postwar was used different type. Should be compared with others as this is a etched logo.

I don’t know what my source was, but I seem to “know” that until 1945 the squirrel mark was orientated with the feet towards the point of the blade and post 1945 it had its feet towards the grip.

I have never really studied the different post-war used Eickhorn logo’s. The original Carl Eickhorn company went bankrupt in 1978. Since then there have been several successors, until this day. I believe this was made by the original Carl Eickhorn company in the 1970’s, before 1978.
