Imperial German naval sword

I have a sword that I believe is Imperial German naval sword. There is no scabbard and the problem is, that it has no markings in it. Only number 38 and mark of the manufacturer - Alexander Coppel Solingen - I believe. The blade is acid etched naval motives. I vould be very thankful for any additional information about this.
