Hi Al, Nick took the words out of my mouth.
I presume these are mostly Regimental issue stamps?
Cheers, Ade.
Ade, yes they are regimental issue marking on the crossguard and scabbard i believe these interpret to read i.e. 11 . R . 1 . 238 = 1st company 11th infantry regiment weapon no. 238 . The scabbard has been re issued a few times as you can see and this reads as follows i.e. 154 . R . 11 . 136 = 11th company 154th regiment weapon no. 136 . The stamp on the blade spine which is crowned "W" over 75 is for the Prussian Kaiser Wilhelm 11 and the 75 for 1875 year of manufacture . The crowned gothic letters are inspection stamps

That is a seriously nice piece of kit!
It was also used with the Infanteriegewehr 88 ''Commision'' rifle, & saw service in the Great war, mainly with Landwehr & Landsturm units.
The Regiments:-
Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich III (2.Schlesisches) Nr 11
IR 154 - 5. Niederschlesisches Infanterie-Regiment.
