Could anyone please help ID these swords. Look ww1 to me. Curved sabre marked WK & C , other sword appears marked but is underneath the tab on the guard and is a bit rusty. Appears to have been partway out of the scabbard about a foot so is rusty. They are dress swords so are not sharpened. All engraving is on the curved sabre Looks like the fellows name and city engraved on the edge. Dont know what the engraving on the blade says. Thoughts on removing the rusty parts or is it best to leave it alone. All replies appreciated. Thank you Brianunknown swordsunknown swordsunknown swordsunknown swordsunknown swords

    Hi there,
you got 2 Extra, Parade, Sabre.
    Both are engraved`
The Engraving menas: "In Treue Fest", wich is the Bavarian motto.
The marker "M. Zöltsch München" is the dealer, who ordered them from WKC and sold them to the Soldier.
They are made about 1900 to max. 1916.
    Cheers,
    Chris

The top one is a Prussian Model 1848 Artillery sabre, the bottom one is a Bavarian Model 1858 Artillery sabre. So these models were made pre-1900, however the single hanger ring on the scabbard and black paint suggests these swords are no earlier than 1910.
