A recent addition to my Imperial collection acquired from a VERY trustworthy member on WAF.
I have been looking for an original set of these to go with my 1870 EK II for some time now.
These are attributed to the firm of AWS and are made of silver. These are one of the accepted versions available.

Excellent addition Ralph. I have to ask. Are you going to bend that prong to put it on you 1870 EK II?
Or is there another option on attaching it?

    Thanks Phil!
That is one option. Or, open the ring on the 1870 EK or, find another 1870 EK with an unsoldered ring.

Wow none of those options minimize the pucker factor do they? It still looks awesome by itself and should display well. Maybe you could figure a way to display it where it looks like it's attached with out modifying those precious pieces

Once again my 2 centavos but with the monetary conversion we're talking a penny for my thoughts

Good luck and would love to see the combo together.

    No, they don't.
This is the way they should be connected but I just can't see myself twisting and bending the ring like this, they are not cheap!

Maybe I'll just keep my eyes out for a set of oaks with this type of mount and add them to my 1870.

With the way it is bent at the 90 degree angle to mount. I'm guessing this oak leaf has never been used.
That pronged one would be so much easier, But then again would you bend the prongs on that type. Oh what a quandary?????

Its still a beautiful addition and congrats to you Ralph

    Ralph,
That really is a nice looking Oak leaf spange. I like the fact that they
are made of silver. I am still waiting to find a set of real silver Oaks.

As far as the "pucker factor" is concerned. Find yourself a AWS 1870 2nd class cross.
A lot of AWS made crosses have un-soldered rings.
