I am pretty sure that the cross hat Richard posted is a fake.
This cross just started showing up this summer. The hinge,
pin, catch setup was the giveaway but the cores don't look
right either. The crown is just a bit different from any others
seen untill now. The cores almost look too good. I am guessing
that they are stamped and not cast (I know--some originals are
stamped) The core coloring is off also IMO. It does not quite
match the painted cast OR the blued sheet steel of period pieces.
Most of us have all seen the notorious "Latvian fake" and these
remind me of the Latvians very much.

You guys are making me drool over all your great crosses ! !
I'll have to get busy with the camera and put some up !
Hi Chaps, here's my latest EK1. It's a fine quality convex type sadley without any maker or silver marks; but with plenty of honest wear & character, Cheers, Richard.
Richard, nice cross, in the condition i like to see them, good find! i cant show my latest crosses on this thread, as ive expanded my collecting base...ive started collecting all EK's !...ive picked up another TR EKII & a pair of early 57' pieces ! look what you chaps have gone and made me do !!!
Very nice. I like 'em with a bit of honest patina. Quality construction. Good find mate.
Thanks Chaps.
Hi Oradour, sounds like you've picked up some nice pieces. If it's any consolation I also had a TR EK2 made by K & Q (65 marked) with ribbon & maker marked packet in the same post as the EK1 today. It's a bit difficult to stop my collection expanding. A common problem I with most collectors I bet!!! Cheers, Richard.
Nice cross Richard.
