Default Opinions on German Iron Cross I. Class (KO)

    Hello!
I've recently been offered this item by someone, which is presumably a German Iron Cross I. Class from WWI, the maker being KO. However, I am somewhat uncertain about this particular one, since I have noticed that the catch and hinge are somewhat perpendicular, or sloped to one side. Furthermore, the year markings seem to be somewhat off center, leading me to be even more skeptical. These things I did not notice in my other collected EKIs, and I am therefore intrigued about the authenticity of this one. Hopefully, there are those here who can offer me some further insights on this matter.

    Thanks!

Medals aren't my speciality but it appears to be good to me.
I've got an EK 2nd class thats 1914 is fairly off center.
The top catch could have been soldered back on at some point maybe?
I'm sure someone more experienced than me in EK's will chime in.

    Cheers!

Thanks! I never realized they could be that way, since all of the ones I’ve collected, be it EKI or EKII are pretty much set at the center. I’m also quite curious on the catch of it too! Hopefully, someone more experienced can provide more insights!

The lower ring on the back does look shiney, as though it was newer, but I think this is due to wear against clothing. The EK has age but I've not had eyes on such a wonky core before. The experts will opine soon.

I think it's real, produced on a Monday after a weekend of partying at KO headquarters.

No issues at all with this cross.
As noted, the pin might have been reattached at some point
hard to tell from the pictures but it is a perfectly fine, original KO.

Thanks! I kept wondering why it was off-center. I can tell it’s a real one, but I must admit, the craftmanship did cause some doubts.
