Thank you for sharing this !!!
Thanks Greg,
I had no idea about these as the 1870 EK falls just outside my collecting "scope". However, such is my interest in militaria that if I found one that based on my general knowledge of such things, looked good at a feasibly "good" price" this would be a trap I might fall into. As the saying goes "Time spent on reconnaissance is never wasted"

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

This reinforces my longstanding decision not to collect medals (though such fakery is certainly not unique to medals)!
Nasty, nasty, nasty lowlife.
As the heading of this thread states, this is “scary”, and very off putting. I have some crosses in my collection, but like Kohima, would be tentative in dipping my toe in too deep until I had the time to really study them a lot more.
Thank you Greg!
This all-encompassing falsification is very frustrating.
Especially since the fakes are getting better and better!

Thank you for posting this Greg, you're a good guy. Threads like this, just keep all collectors aware of the negatives & keeps us on the positive side, thank you, this is right across the board of collecting.
Thank you
Paul
