I never would have thought there was such an example made of glass. It shows the situation with available resources late in the war for Germany; it is probably something they could have been doing all along assuming it’s quite strong being glass. Is it a dark green dyed soda lime glass maybe?
The thickness and shape reminds me a lot of crown royal bottles which are incredibly strong and can survive great impact for glass. This canteen likely held up in the trench life until being hit by some metal projectile(s).
