    Default Early Dated Zeltbahn

This came in with another Zeltbahn that I’ll post separate, it’s still in real nice condition and nicely marked and dated 1939. The darker side has some light wear marks and the lighter side seems to be perfectly fine and not worn. Still has the tie rope, I’m sure this will display well when I have my own war room. I’m sorry that I couldn’t take photos of the whole Zeltbahn but I think these give a decent idea. The lighting also makes it hard to tell which side is light or dark but you can see the difference when looking between the folds in the larger photos.

    Cheers and Happy Collecting,
    Bodhi

That looks really nice and the stamps are beautifully clear.
    What metal are the buttons?
Thank you for showing us,I will look forward to seeing your other zeltbahn.

They are all made of aluminum I believe and thankfully they are all there. The other isn’t as great looking but I’m still happy with it!

    Thanks,

    Thanks for the reply.
I only have one,a 1940,and all the buttons are zinc, plus a couple of steel replacements.
Guess my Aluminium got diverted to the Luftwaffe.
Thanks again for showing a nice example that is probably pre-war.

Nice early war Zelt with alu hardware !! Not easy to find in this condition !

Now you only need a Zeltstock, 2 pins and the black tent rope to complete the set !

Thanks, I’ve already had a look around for some of these items but the challenge is going to be finding them in similar condition and dates.

Zelts have been one of the more available pieces of kit over the years - and one that has not become ridiculously expensive ( excluding SS of course )

I bought my first in 1987 and paid $100 and my last in 2015 and paid $200 - so that's not a huge increase
