    Dear all,

this week, four canteens sort of fell into my hands. None of them is in the finest condition and one is particularly bad.

I am posting here, because I want to find out two things:
1: Where can I find a list with producer codes? Would love to check out where they came from. One canteen doesn't have a marking at all.
2: Two of the pouches' buttons have no wind roses engraved in them. Are they still wartime examples?

    Thanks for the answers!

    All the best!

I have a few of these gathered over time but I am not expert so I share some of your questions.
However, I have been under the impression that the unmarked press-studs are early post-war DDR items?

The larger feldflasche is for medical personnel. The alu cup marked ZPStZ40 was produced in 1940 by Zieh, Presse und Stanzwerk, Schwarz & Co. Zwintschona, Halle. I would suggest the unmarked studs may be Hitler Youth issue items. Need to see if there is any marks on the throat of the feldflasche of the unmarked stud example.

    Hi there!

Thanks for your replies and expertise!

I found a few other examples with unmarked studs:

M42 unmarked canteen with gabardine cover – fjm44

    https://www.warsendshop.com/products...een-enamel-cup

They appear to be original in those webshops. Any other opinions?

krabl and BlackCat, where did you get this info from?

    All the best!

Michael Heidlers book on codes is the most complete source reference at the moment although some lists can be found online.
