Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
if markings on the lid are not the same as those on the bottom piece (handle loops) then it is mismatched.
very nice piece !
Check out Tom's website for more info - MP44.nl - German Uniforms and Equipment - Essgeschirr
Hi Meyle, thanks. Indeed there are different markings. I just noticed these.

No, markings on the top lid are on the "handle" and on the bottom on one of the handle loops
your lid is marked ccj41 - made in 1941 by F.W. Bröckelmann, Aluminiumwerk GmbH KG, Neheim/Ruhr
Yes CCJ are under the leather strap on the handle as you said. But those markings in post #4 are also on that part of the tin. On the bottom of the lid. I think they are 3 letters and if i am not mistaken the first 2 are ''N''. Maybe ''NNY'' i am not sure as the third letter is unreadable.

have a look at Kochgeschirr 31 - The German Mess Kit / der Erste Zug - you will see where the markings are on the body (tin) piece.
Now! Do you have the Utensils to go with it?

blimey Chris you must be doing well with your job,all these things you are buying.Lol
It looks great. The missing paint shows honest wear - this is what they should look like after a few months of use. The scratched letters on the lid are probably the owner's initials. As mentioned, look on the side of the lower pot where the wire handle is attached. There you will see a manufacture code and date. NH
