It is not really a late war messkit. This kind of steel messkit was most commonly produced 1942 and 1943. Yours is 43dated. Most of the messkits produced later in the war were made from aluminium again.
The double marking WJ43 and GNL 43 ( or is it 42?) makes it rather special though. Personally I have not seen a double marking like that before.
Do the litte metal parts on the side, where the handle is attached, have any markings also?

I suspect these is a mix of 2 parts, the lower part is green enameled, while the upper part is red, nevertheless a very interesting upper part with 2 stamps !!
There were many different late war types, enameled, but also perfectly made aluminium ones (the HRE45 with inner part)
