    Hi guys!

This tall 1943-dated canister arrived today, a recent purchase from an old collector. I was happy to make it see some light again after (apparently) 30 years of storage. Not a mint example but fairly untouched, just the way I like them.

Both the can and the FE37 filter that was inside are named to the same "O. P". If anyone is able to fully decipher the writing, I would of course appreciate it a lot! The canister is maker marked ets43 and frn43.

    Thanks for having a look!

...and while checking the photos I now realized it's also named on the bottom will get a better picture of that asap.

The second name looks like Peyel but I can’t work out what the other word on the top right says. Nice find with the gas mask spring included.

Cheers, looked like O. Peyel to me too. The first part is unfortunately barely visible and rather difficult to photograph on the bottom.

I would read the word above his name as Uscha, which I think is an abbreviation of Unterscharführer.

    Kind regards,

    Will.

That crossed my mind as being a rank abbreviation too Willmore, but I think they used Uscharf. If it is an SS related behalter then the value goes up at once.

Thank you so much for the comments guys!

I got the set for a criminally low price if it is indeed SS, both the seller and I assumed it was a slightly salty Heer example (which I would have preferred as I personally don't collect SS). I will let him know and ask if I could possibly pay a bit more for a fair deal.

Once again I would have entirely missed this piece of info without the great help from our WRF. Thanks again!

A little update as I was finally able to reach the seller again.

This SS canister apparently originates from Tartu in southern Estonia where the fellow found it at an antique shop in the early 1990s. Possibly an interesting piece for further research, but unfortunately entirely out of my field of collecting.

Even though I will be passing it on, I would like to thank everyone again for the extremely kind help with this piece! It is all very much appreciated
