I dearly hope it’s not the asbestos out of the filter!

The white powder may be remains of losantin anti gas bleach powder, I would suggest you use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the residue, or if you prefer a damp piece of kitchen paper, but avoid skin contact and wash your hands afterwards. The filter use activated charcoal in these so I doubt it is asbestos.
Cleaned it today, the powdery substance was white-ish with sometimes greenish tones? I wore gloves and a mask, just to be extra careful. Most of it is out, but some stains remain, which did not come off easily, but i think i´m just gonna keep it alone and closed.
There is a stamp on the inside, but i cant make out what it says, do the Spare Lenses have dates? They both have 1944 printed on them.
Yup, that's the date on the lenses. Please post a picture of the mystery stamp, perhaps we could help with it!
I will, but i´m moving right now and the cannister is already packed! So at a later time. Thanks for all the comments so far!
nice. thanks for posting.
Nicely dated 1944 under the manufacturer's logo. I'm sure someone will recognize the main stamp as well!
