Unloading Device

Hi all,

I saw a photo a while ago, a wooden sign from a 21cm Morser battery which was marked (in German) "Unloading device".

Sorry I dont have the image and cant find it but it looked to be part of a gallows bracket setup, so assume the device was near the weapon(s)?

What was the unloading device for a 21cm Morser? any ideas?

Thank you in advance, I tried a few other places in this and no one seems to know.

No idea myself but online I found it used two shells, the 21 cm Gr 18 that weighed 113 kg (249 lb) and the 21 cm Gr 18 concrete-piercing shell of 121.4 kg (268 lb)

So I think it would have been more troublesome loading the shell rather than unloading the spent cartridge????

Some thoughts from others have been a tool of some kind if the shell jammed and needed removing, not a job I'd relish!
