Not convinced this is German? Would the handle not have a ball type end to it? And is the shape of the shovel not wrong?

It has the folded ear / spot welded construction but I think the handle has been replaced.
The long pioneer spades were more pointed like a shovel.

Thx guys - the seller says that the 2 rivets holding the handle has not been messed with - so if it's a replacement handle, probably was replaced a long time ago...(?)
To me possible ww2 german make with replacement handle at some point not the standard issue handle a careful cleaning of the blade and check of manufactures logo's, dates etc if there are any might help solve the origin of it. timothy
I was also thinking ww2 German shovel with replaced wooden handle
I don't recall ever seeing a trenching shovel with a lanyard hole in it. I'm in agreement with the rest-my first impression was a broken handle that was replaced many a moon ago. Period repair? Impossible to say at this point..
