I realise this is an old thread but 49th (West Riding) Divisional Ordnance Field Park, Royal Army Ordnance Corps were part of the 49th Division during WW2 .

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
thank you. strange that you have brought this to the top.
My mate helped to clear the whole house out the other week and has found paper work which he has kept for me. unfortunately his medals must have went to the tip when the attic was cleared with what ever else. Easy to replace though.
so hopefully i will find out more and keep it with the jacket.
thanks
Rod

Nice one. Your looks a lot better condition than mine.
I did find out his name. The only thing that i was told was that he was nearly left behind in Norway. Don't know if there's any truth to this. I've never really research where different parts of the British army were sent. Perhaps when i get the paper work. it will give me something else to research.
