Argentina haul of Third Reich pieces
Article about: I'm not sure if this could be considered an attic find but... https://www.theguardian.com/world/vi...f-hitler-video I would not have a clue as to their authenticity. Cheers BH

As a long over due update....(article from 2019, two years after the story broke.)
Apparently all these items have been authenticated by "experts" and are now going to be displayed in a Holocaust museum in Argentina...

That puts a whole new spin on Museum Quality, there’s a sucker born every minute.

Doesn't say much for the so called experts, most the stuff looked like high kitsch rubbish. The fact the "art dealer" had shady trading connections to China doesn't seen to have "joined the dots for" them....er maybe he had them made in China?

The Mummy Returns VI will be filmed in Argentina, featuring a nazi Mummy and his unholy hoard Hello Nazi Kitties, and the sound track will be preform on nazi harmonicas.
Who will think of the Mummies.

IMHO is that this is all political. There is no way anyone with even a few active brain cells and who has spent more than 5 min in this hobby would not know. The authorities jumped the gun and then had to save face

At least a German Art Historian has his head screwed on the right way:
Haul of Nazi artefacts on display in Argentina mostly fake, expert says | Argentina | The Guardian
The President and Director of the Argentina Holocaust Museum are obviously clueless and should be sacked.

Yes, that report Brett posts pretty much destroys the claim the "artifacts" are authentic. A German art expert who wrote a report for the Argentinians said only a few items were authentic to the Third Reich and none was of any value for "educational purposes". The skull measuring device dated from between 1890-1910.

Nice to see someone is sane.
It is all politics. The Federal Police Chief and Security Minister should be sacked as well. They saw political advantage in this and simply ignored the evidence.

I am Argentine and this was an international shame without a doubt.
On the other hand, there is no crime for having or collecting these artifacts, whether authentic or not. The law says nothing about that. It would be different to make public propaganda about slogans of National Socialism, for example.
Here, except for the fact that it is ALL FAKE, we are talking about historical pieces that a collector kept at his home and that were NOT on display.
So we have three embarrassing facts here:
1-Not knowing how to differentiate between genuine and fantasy artifacts like these.
2-Make a criminal case against someone who possesses and does not publicly display these objects, and above all confiscate them.
3- Exhibit in a MUSEUM, nothing more and nothing less, this string of garbage and fantasy trinkets as if they were genuine objects. The director of the Argentine Holocaust Museum is obviously clueless and should be fired.
What's more, the Chief of the Federal Police and the Minister of Security should also have been fired. They saw a political advantage in this and simply ignored the evidence that surely some expert, no matter how incompetent, must have indicated to them.
In short, they simply ROBBED the antiquarian in addition to putting him in prison and initiating a case, and I hope that he has properly sued the state in addition to recovering his belongings.
