    A Polish Standard hidden in a grave during the Warsaw uprising has been rediscovered after nearly 65 years.
    The standard was from the 6th Mounted Rifles Regiment.

    At present, the standard in undergoing restoration at the polish War Museum in Warsaw.

    (Website with details ... I'm afraid it's only in Polish, .. but there are some pictures of the standard.)

    I believe that the grave was used because it was thought to be a safe hiding place ... (It wasn't hidden in a contemporary grave, .. most probably an old dry lined tomb/masoleum).
    Obviously at this point of the war, the Germans even if they had known there was a standard hidden in a graveyard, would most probably have not bothered wasting manpower searching for it when there were more pressing tasks at hand.

    I heard that not 1 single Polish banner was captured in ww2.Is this true?
