This suggestion is a little different, this channel does not cover the modern time period. However I’m sure anyone who even has a remote interest in history will enjoy these podcasts.
Truly some of the best content I’ve ever come across on YouTube. I cannot overstate how good these are. If anyone does listen to one please let me know. I’ve been trying to get friends and family to listen to them for a long time but to no avail.

    Cheers,
    Just watched one. Very good.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

I thought I’d add another one to this list.

I’m sure most people have come across this channel before. Regardless, there may be a few who haven’t and for those people I can highly recommend a channel called - The Great War.

    The Great War - YouTube

Go to playlists on the channel and start with 1914. Each episode covers 1 week of the 1st world war. I’m on week 43.

Very good series, really puts across how incompetent most of the military leaders were. Conrad von Hötzendorf of the Austro-Hungarian Empire seems to be about the worst military leader of the entire war, perhaps even history.

    Enjoy,
