    Default Museum visit

Today a walked through our county museum and I was surprised at the
military items that they displayed. Keep in mind , this is a small town
with a population of 1000 and the museum is mostly devoted to displays
of items related to settlers in our area and to the logging and farming that
    happened here.

The Imperial flag was brought over at the end of ww1 and the hand embroidery
work on it is amazing but hard to photograph through the glass.

The ww2 helmets were hanging so getting good pictures was difficult.
I tweaked the pictures a bit in photoshop to try and bring out some details
lost in the poor lighting. BTW its a single decal.

It just goes to show that ..these little towns ...are the woodwork that these great items come out of.

I would be surpised myself to see this as well...but back then during WW2 ...the draft did not discriminate even from the tiny towns ....and some of the greatest heros came from them as well.

    Great pics Greg

I was also pretty impressed with the ww2 pennant. (picture #3 and #4 above)
All embroidered and very well done.
If anyone knows what it was for, please let me know as I don't
    have a clue.

    Thanks, Pete.
I stood there and took the picture and never read the card.

It's a good story but I have my doubts. A quick search of Goring does not
show this particular flag but who knows, he was such a fashion horse, I'm
sure he had many as he progressed through the ranks.
