I'm almost finished with the Finnish version of Konrad Knabe's (1915-1996) memoir book "Das Auge Dietls" (The Eye of Dietl). Knabe commanded a long-range reconnaissance unit of the Luftwaffe in northern Finland and Norway during the war.
Chronologically the book is occasionally a bit confusing, there are some bizarre jumps in time as often tends to be the case with memoirs. It is an entertaining read anyway - and thanks to Knabe's detailed stories I managed to date a few photographs of his crew that I had recently acquired.

This has been on my "to-read" list for a while. I'm not far into it, but it's already very good. It's written in a very sincere way. Sledge became well-known from his book in its own right, but became even better known through HBO's mini-series The Pacific.

rogge16 - That sounds like a good one! I've added that to my very long "to-read" list!

Just getting started on it but hoping it's a good one. So far so good! I have one of those long "to read" lists.
Thanks!
Take care,
Luke
