What is your holy grail of collecting?

Article about: Evening, Just interested to know what everyone's holy grail of militaria collecting is? Personally, mine would be a Waffen Ss officers cap, but at present I would settle for a Heer officers

    If only!
Nope, just my holy grail/dream piece, I’m afraid mate.

At the moment, my sights are somewhat lower; A nice set of Luftwaffe flight branch musicians’ wings (Schwalbenneste), will make me happy for now.

I don't have any holy grails in collecting, I don't see the point in setting my sights on something that is almost impossible to obtain. I'm afraid that I'm a bit more down to earth and only purchase what I can realistically afford.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Agreed. But it seems for a lot of people (including myself) the Holy Grail shapeshifts when you get what the last one was. And you never know, might win the lottery one day or become the sole heir to a massive fortune because you were stolen by gypsys as a child etc, etc.

Today I found my "holy grail". Always wanted one, and some hours ago I dug up a Lappland Schild, still uncut from the sheet of metal it got stamped on

My Holy Grail item would be a piece of the B-17 "Mrs Geezil"
This is the B-17 my Uncle Joe and my friend Phil Chaperon were on during that mission.
It Exploded midair over Schlierbach Germany April13th 1944 after being attacked by enemy fighters.

Next will be a USAAF B-3/A-3 Jacket and trousers combo in excellent condition to finish my Phil Chaperon display.

Default An Au Lion's variant on steroids.

My Holy Grail item would be to obtain one of these Presentation Mk. I Trench Knives.

Yep, that pretty much is it for me
