Arisaka bayonet restoration

Hi there,

Here's a couple of pictures of my Type 30 bayonet with scabbard. The hilt is covered with some sort of silver paint and the blade has patina and light surface rust on it.

I haven't done anything to this yet. Any suggestions how to remove the paint and get the bayonet and the scabbard to look as "original" as possible without damaging them?

I have used paint stripper in the past with good success. Do not get any on the wood grips.
