Many years ago I did. It darkens the leather. I would not use it again.
Go for Renaissance Wax if you wish to use something.

Ok thanks much
I've used mink oil on leather, it doesn't seem to darken it as much.
Very interesting ideas I will test a little portion of the scabbard first
Ive used it for years with no issues and great results .
It all depends on how degraded the leather is i guess , looking at your photos id say its a big ask whatever you use.
I find its best applied very lightly , allowed to sit for a few weeks , then buff by hand and reapply and repeat as needed and you will get a result.
Works for me , Im sure there are other products that do the same job but It really is a game of patience.
I have had great results on dirty blackened leggings and sam browne belts.
And I put a light rub on my minty gear every couple of years to keep it in great shape.

Here is a good example,
These Australian WW1 Light Horse leggings were pretty much black with dirt and use , dry though non cracked , luckily.
Overall it took over 6 months to bring them back to original colour and condition.
Light wipe , sit for 3 - 4 weeks , buff and repeat & repeat.
Cheers Rick

Although is it 27 years old, not much has changed with the leather treatment products that have been sold during that time. I have experienced what is called "bloom" on leather items that I have treated with a popular leather treatment product. You may want to google leather bloom to see more about it.
One of the issues that I have with most, if not all, leather treatment products is that the manufacturer will not tell you what is specifically in their product. I think this is important to know. I find that many leather treatment products contain petroleum based chemicals in them. Might as well put Vaseline on leather.
