Some time ago I bought a Pickelhaube shell for 15 euro. I restored it with original parts. I think it was used by kids to play with. Due to lack of funds at the time and the fun of bringing history alive and working on a Pickelhaube, I looked for parts all over Europe and put it together.

    The chinstrap is a repro.

Let me know what you think of the result.

I did some more restorations. Better ones. This was my first one. If you like I can post the results.

I think it looks pretty good, I bet looking for the parts was a lot of fun.

    Hi Frostjs,

It took some time. But it's a way of getting in contact with a lot of different people selling stuff on flee markets in France, second-hands shops in Germany. People who sell parts on military fairs and the internet of course, etc. Getting it done good forces you to do a lot of research to get into the matter. And I learned a who set of new skills. Sewing leather for instance.

That looks fantastic! I own a pickelhaube in way better condition then the shell you had, i wonder what you could create out of that one!

    Thx.

    Here is another one.

Baden M15. When I started the shell had the top and Knopfe 91. It was completely flat like an elephant sat on it. It took some time and patience to get it in the right shape. I'm still looking for a 'pickel' with a little more paint to fit with the rest.
