Here I show two examples that I believe to be wartime made and used - one in steel, the other in brass:
Very Nice buckles Richie, thanks for showing these. I agree, to me, they both look like they are wartime. It's Interesting the one on bottom that is brass, looks like the two metal bars or rods the leather belt would attach to are made of steel? they look to have some rust on them? is this true? is the buckle made from brass and also steel? I've never seen one made from two metals.

Yes, the attaching bars are made from steel, soldered on. I have a few others that show the same characteristics.
