Just to educate myself. What does the white strip on the french M26 mean?

It means that this helmet was use during "german in France period" as civilian "défense passive - DP" (it was first use in army, and after german invasion as DP).

Great purchases Jean,we have the same sickness,can't stop buying militaria,the M1 looks to have had a repaint at some stage of its service life,but still a nice Lid and so are the others...............
