Hello,
some details on the most common Strichtarn helmet covers, ie TYP II, there are two models.
The first dating from the years 19696/70 to 1977/78, with bakelite buttons, an opening in the middle of the sheath of the lace, and closing laces ending in simple knots.
The second dating from the years 1978/79 to 1990, with plastic buttons, a closed sheath for the lace and ends of plasticized laces.
Hello,
there are many more variants and models than just two.
The model with the brown buttons alone has 6 types.
With the last variant, however, you can say that you can clearly see it by the gray buttons. Apart from differences in camouflage printing, there are no different types.
At time I will introduce all the covers.
Hello everyone, quick update.
I put the helmet under some good light and can partially see the the first date digit on the shell which I think is 7 but can't make out the second digit. Found the NVA stamp on the leather which is I. / S which I'm guessing is first quarter 1975.
Alex
