A wide variety of parts were used for the M51s shells & liners overtime. This sliding buckle caught my eye, reminding me of the Adrian helmet chinstrap . It is a nice example.

Well, Germany now (again) but not then. Between 1947 and 1957 the Saarland (where Neunkirchen is situated) as in the French-administered Saar Protectorate. Which for us helmet fans is exciting because of Jeanne d'Arc's little sister. The production of the mle51 was spread across much of France (and Saar was considered 'France' at that time) tp revitalise industry on a wide basis.

The Menesa Neunkirchen product is reputed to be the lowest production mle51 by some margin, and given the time and effort it took me to get one (a matching shell and liner) I can well believe it.

Great info on Menesa.
Concerning the sliding buckle chinstrap it comes from a post war adrian m26.
the 1968 liner has wrong attachement /rivet (I don't know the word). It should be screws.
