Hello,
I would like to introduce you to another helmet variant of the early West German police.
It is a reissue of the M40 from the manufacturer F.W. Qusit Esslingen. The company still had the old machines and manufacturing methods of WW2 production. For this reason the shells are an exact copy.
Which you can also see from the ventilation holes.
Unfortunately, these shells are often used to fake a WW2 helmet.
The only difference is the stamping. The lot number is missing in the neck. The Q mark with the bell size is on the right.
The split pins for attaching the inner lining are also very similar to those used in WW2 production.
The color of the shells is always a dark green-gray.
The inner linings can vary depending on the supplier.
In order to adapt the lining to a certain head size, cork washers were also used here
The simplified inner lining 31 installed here has no holes in the forehead area.
The inner ring appears to be made of a cardboard-like material. The chin strap is sewn and riveted as usual.
The leather is lined with foam rubber at the front, otherwise with felt.
These helmets without a coat of arms were used by Rheinland-Pfalz - Rhineland-Palatinate and Nordrhein-Westfalen - North Rhine-Westphalia. The helmet shown comes from the Rhineland-Palatinate riot police.
These helmets were also delivered to the police in Saarland and Baden-Württemberg. However, these helmets have corresponding coats of arms.
Best wishes
