    Hello,

Today I'm showing you an early helmet from the Spezialeinsatzkommando (SEK) - Special Operations Command of the Bavarian State Police (set up in 1973).
This helmet model was also worn later by investigators from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (Bayerisches Landeskriminalamt - BLKA) a.o. special field weapons and explosives.

The origin of this helmet is not really clear. It is probably an available trial model of a Bundeswehr paratrooper helmet that was in stock at the manufacturer. The shell and interior of these helmets date from 1965, years before the SEK were set up in 1973. The manufacturer of the shell is always PSL = Paul Schulze, Lübeck.

The shell is a modified M1A1LL shell, which was shortened slightly at the bottom and given a rubber edge.
This helmet was originally issued by Schuberth Works, Braunschweig with an M1A1LL interior made in 1965 in the Bundeswehr version.

Covers were also made for these helmets.
These adapt perfectly to the shape of the helmet.

There are two variants with slightly different processing details.

    Hello ,
I have the same model from 1966. It's a Versuchshelm for para, I can no longer find the photo of the soldiers wearing this helmet boarding a plane... Apparently it was not satisfactory and was not selected.
I didn't know that the stocks had been used in Bavaria, this is very interesting information.
Some photos, the helmet is named, maybe P 121 will tell you something.

    Hello,

No, you don't have a trial helmet for paratroopers either. You mean another helmet model from 1956-59.

It is also a Bavarian police helmet.

    The inscription is clear.

    Wilhelm, POM, PI 21

POM is a police rank = Polizeiobermeister. Corresponds to a Police Senior Sergeant

Amtsbezeichnungen der deutschen Polizei – Wikipedia

PI 21 is the office/unit, the Polizeiinspektion 21 in Bavaria.

Die Bayerische Polizei - Polizeiinspektion 21 Munchen (Au).

Nice lids. They just do not look comfortable. I would not trade my MSA made lid. Very comfortable even with night vision attached.

    Hello,

The wearing comfort of the helmets is acceptable. One must also never forget the temporal context. We're talking about the 1973-1980s here. There wasn't much better at the time.

    Regards
