Hi All
Just thought I'll put up some more of my IDF helmets i'v gotten this year. First is my Orlite riot helmet . it was listed as bomb disposal helmet but I would not think it would be strong enough for that kind of work. I did get a visor cover and helmet bag for it but they got lost in the post (the Ebay seller has been possible the most annoying seller i'v ever come across on Ebay)
As for the symbol on the back I have no idea if that's a unit markings or has another meaning. It all so has the older plastic chin strap clip
I made this orlite helmet to represent a Magav Yaman helmet (counter-terror and hostage rescue unit) The unit uses captured Hamas uniforms to make the the helmet covers. The camouflage used by Hamas is Syrian lizard camouflage i could not find this so i used the Greek one which is less red than the Syrian one. The helmet band is a after market one made by Israeli Tactical Gear Shop | ZAHAL (Tzahal) | Rifle accessories/parts Vz-58 (Shipping World-Wide) .
On the back there is adventure lights vip strobe which I'm sorry to say is a airsoft copy but one day I'll get the real thing. On the side there is a Mag light tourch I was looking on ebay for one in a used condition but every one i found went for the same as a new one. The goggles are made by ESS which have just broken when i was taking the photes The flag is from the lotar counter terrorism tactical training school
Hope you lot don't mind its not 100% the real thing but i thought it would look a bit different
What a superb collection Robin ,i like very much and thanks for sharing
cheers james

Robin, nice helmet, it is as you say a riot helmet, not bomb disposal. They are a different model to the usual helmet, it has different profile coming deeper of over the ears. Are there any labels inside to see what the official designation is?
The 92 on the back could be for the 92nd battalion, part of the Central Command and predominantly West Bank based. Of course, it could just as easily be their lucky number, no way of knowing.
Here’s a photo of the bomb disposal helmet, (used in this case by civil police bomb disposal) the visor is much thicker and the helmet looks to be slightly different form and a bit more substantial, it may well have thicker Kevlar.
Steve.
Thanks Tinhat for the info on the 92nd battalion i'll do a bit off digging there and see what i can find (maybe my first helmet with a real unit marking on it?). I remember see a IDF bomb disposal helmet in the film Beaufort which as you say was lot heavy duty than this helmet
92nd is part of Kfir Brigade (camouflage berets, a bit tacky in my opinion), here's a link to a news report "24 hours in Hebron with Kfir" it features the 92nd and they are wearing the same helmets.
