"M1" which nationality ?

Article about: Hi, mates, received some military items, including a steel helmet. While I'm interested in helmets from all eras, I'm not an expert in the field. Will show better pictures of the helmet here

Hi Reibert, this is a Greek liner from their M1 clone.
The Greek liner uses for both it's cradle & nap strap a removable assembly similar to the US M1 1972 liner.

    Hello Reibert,

Your Dutch helmet has a late Schuberth (SH89) liner. We used liners from VerBlifa, Netherlands, Schuberth, Germany, Dansk Kunststof Industri, Denmark, Ulbricht's Witwe, Austria, NV Beccon, Netherlands, Eurocap, Netherlands and an unknown manufacturer; H.L.

The liner marked N is a Dutch used liner produced by Schuberth Werke GmbH in the period 1963-1968. The last of the duck cloth (fiber) liners used by us.

The head band is of the Dutch model 3 (2 snaps in the front). We used Mostly Stocko snaps, but earlier on we also bought them from Raymond Druckknopf und Metallware in Germany.

    Cheers,
    Emile
Were M53s manufactured in Austria by Ulbricht's Witwe, Schwanenstadt, carried by the Dutch armed forces in any armed conflicts in which Holland was involved?

    Thx. in advance,

The liner was manufactured by Schuberth-Werke.
Stamp in the dome of the liner: SH89

    Hello Reibert,

Ulbricht's Witwe produced helmets for the Netherlands from 1981 till 1992. So it is safe to assume they were used in the later stages of UNIFIL in Lebanon and in the early stage of UNPROFOR in the Bosnian conflict.

After 1992 the B826 (Schubert helmet) was issued as a temporary measure during UN missions, later to be replaced by the standardized M95 by INDUYCO.

    Cheers,
    Emile

A few days ago I received this Dutch M53 along with various Bundeswehr militaria.

In the rim of the shell I found the following stamp:
    Lot 02/92 U's
The shell was therefore made in Austria by Ulbricht's Witwe, Schwanenstadt.
The stamp in the dome of the liner also suggests that it was made in Schwanenstadt, (Upper Austria), by Ulbricht's Witwe.

The following was scribbled on the sweat band with a red ballpoint pen:
    730./38830
But I'm not sure if I interpreted this correctly...?
Can any of you read and interpret this stamp correctly?
    Thx. in advance !

In my opinion this is an nice example of an European M1 clone.

That looks like the Registration No. of the soldier it was issued to. Dutch registration no's were "year-month-day" of birth, followed by three random no's.
So your helmet was issued to a soldier born on January 30 1973.

I bought helmets in bulk, and among them was a customized Dutch helmet.
