Polish Wz 67

Article about: Really nice condition Wz 67 (refurbed i reckon) i picked up this week, spotted it on ebay Poland for £4.00. The Wz 67 was a follow on from the Polish Wz50 (ssh 40 shell), it was re-designed

On the subject of the Wz 50 liner being used in other helmets i have this UN Sanctions /Trade embargo period Iraqi M80 -R model ,the R stands for refurbished ,you can still see a part remnant of the Polish Wz 50 leather chinstrap which survived long after the original m80 straps perished or were perhaps cut away as part of the refurbishment processPolish Wz 67Polish Wz 67Polish Wz 67Polish Wz 67Polish Wz 67

The wz67 with wz50 liner is unusual, and I would think fairly rare. I certainly have not seen one. To supplement what we have already here's a quick translation from Jacek Kijak's book on Polish helmets (HELMY WOJSKA POLSKIEGO) -

“Model helmets are also very rare, 67 with internal equipment from wz. 50. The idea of using this equipment was probably born in natural way when developing trial versions, as can be seen in photo 7.25, but this was omitted in the model approved for mass production. Nevertheless, such examples have been preserved. What's more interesting, their shells have a plugged hole in the top for mounting standard internal equipment. It is therefore possible that they wanted to use the stocks left from the wz50 helmets already during mass production or that it is the result of later, non-standard modifications made at the Military Repair Plant. In any case, the fastening of the internal equipment using rivets placed at 3/4 of the body height is done at the factory and does not raise any suspicions. During the development of the wz. helmet 67, two versions of the lining were designed and tested, namely with a single strap, with "Y"-shaped straps (photo 7.25) and three versions of fasteners. Ultimately, the variant with a single strap fastened with a buckle with a pin was adopted”

Photo 7.25 is here below and you can see it is the same experimental type as referenced by Joseba. I have also included a copy of the machine-translated version of the relevant Joseba page.
