Question Questions about the DDR M56 family of helmets

    Hi!

A few questions regarding the M56 steel DDR helmets:

1a) If the helmet has no size, date (year) and maker markings - is it an "export" variant or simply an error in production or some type of late model with no markings to decrease the time of production? Reason for asking is that somewhere (maybe here, can't remember right now) I've read that Croatia received DDR M56 helmets (and later models) at the beginning of the Homeland war here in the 90s.
1b) Is an unmarked helmet inferior in quality?

    2) The liner in my M56/76 helmet has the NVA IV./C 3 markings - does it stand for the 4th quarter of production 1983, size 3?

    3) Is this the triangular cheek protection?

Croatia have recieved many DDR helmets, Bosnia as well, but all of them, as I'm aware (had 20+ in my Collection) have heat stamp, so that ones without could be error in Production, or sometimes if they were repainted in Croatia (or Bosnia) the thicker layer of the paint made the heat stamp unreadable (hidden under the paint). Also that helmets were standard DDR never ment for export, they were sent as help by the newly unified German republic, because they had no use for them. Also that was the similar case with m56s that were sent to north vietnam by the DDR as help in equipment.
As for the Production dates, latest I have seen was 1989.,still have this one in my Collection.

The helmets were mainly exported after 1990 or the remainder were sold because they were no longer used in Germany. They were then used again in the Balkans and Turkey, among others.

Before 1990, M56s were exported to North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. I believe some friendly African countries were also exported.

If you do not find a stamp on the side of the shell or only an indistinct stamp, it has only something to do with a weak stamp on this stamp.
There are not always stamps in the inner lining.

Neither of these has anything to do with poor quality or export.

    2) VI./ C = fourth quarter 1983
