Strange East German Civil defence Helmet

I love stange things (I drive a hearse!) and i bought this helmet on Ebay it is listed as a German Civil Defence helmet and it is dated 1982 i have never seen anything like this can anyone help me with this ? Its made of heavy plastic and it looks a lot like a DDR helmet

Thanks I have never seen anything like this! How common are these? It also looks like it has a "mining" light attchment on the front

I guess these are quite common. I don't know whether the German Civil Defense has been cashiered like they did in The Netherlands in the late eigthies and where they sold off the equipment.

The projection on the front looks to be there to acommodate a head light, as you remarked correctly.

See i have the "gladiator" style civil defence helmet and they are eveywhere. but i have never seen one like this ! does anyone have any pics or more info on these helmets ? The marks on the helmet say "ZS Helm,1982 1000v"
