That's a nice heavily worn helmet. Too bad about the leather but it will still display very nicely

I own a similar one with no liner but a surviving chinstrap. These helmets are unique in that it's difficult to tell which way it's worn. Air vents swept forward or back? One rim is larger that the other. The larger rim presumably for the neck guard or the other way around? Period photo's shown it worn either way, I suppose the Spanish soldiers couldn't figure it out either.

Nice photo! So it appears vents swept back with the large rim towards the neck at least in formation. But in battle it was still confusing LOL.
So the rear stretcher bearer and the infantryman below got it wrong, LOL
So did the 2nd guy in the column and the 2nd guy left of the maxim MG
