    Phil the SMLE was in use but very likely some NZ regiments still had a few "Long Tom" rifles, such as we see in the photo. The snipers were using SMLE.

    Best wishes to all our Kiwi mates they served alongside our troops .
    Weird times having Anzac day with not being able to go out but we still will honour them in private.

    I've took a second and third look at the photo's and even did a ZOOM and I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "the twin bayonets"

    I don't get it too but it appears one fella right has two scabbards?

    That's what meant. Both the guy with periscope and guy standing at right seem to have a second scabbard attached by web strap, but is it an entrenching tool?

    Naa the two at left are on separate belts
