It is an old thread, but I just discovered it. The first photo is from my father's snapshots. He was in England and France in 1944-1945, and I guess the castle is in either England or France. Does anybody recognize it? I wish I could find out exactly where it is. The next two photos are of my sons with the cannons at Castillo de San Marco, St. Augustine, Florida.Show your Castles, Forts and FortressesShow your Castles, Forts and FortressesShow your Castles, Forts and Fortresses

In 2019 I visited Fort Sumter, S.C. That place was spectacular. "Its origin dates to the War of 1812 when the British invaded Washington by sea. It was still incomplete in 1861 when the Battle of Fort Sumter began the American Civil War."

Urasoe castle Okinawa Japan. I visited Hacksaw ridge last year and was pleasantly surprised to find this castle, a stone road connecting Urasoe and Shuri castles from 1597, and a couple other sites dating from roughly the same time frame in the immediate area.
