Another great museum to visit in Moscow is Victory Park. It was completed in 1995 to celebrate the 50th aniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War.
Victory Park was built on Poklonnaya Gora, the highest hill in Moscow. This was also the hill Napolean watched from as his army surrounded Moscow in 1812.
It is a huge museum/park complex covering 200-300 acres. It has an indoor museum covering WWII from the beginning to the end and is famous for it's huge diorama/paintings. The dioramas blend almost seamlessly into the huge, curved paintings in the background. Quite impressive.
Outside is a huge vehicle park containing tanks, planes, trains, trucks, etc. There is also a lake with ships.
The following are some photos from my visit in 2001.
Best Regards,
Mike
