how many people visiting the area, just drive past without knowing what took place here?
Countless thousands -and even 'enthusiasts' will say 'Well, there's nothing to see here...'

But having read everything I could find about Wittmann's demise, standing there really brought it home what a perfect target a force of Tigers crossing that field would offer to well-emplaced Shermans/Fireflies.

I agree, for all the publicity Wittmann gets, he goes racing along a exposed field and becomes a sitting duck.

How many Tigers were lost and how many tankers lost their lives in this ridiculous assault?

Was it four Tigers and a couple of mk4's?

Joe Ekins had a field day, 3 Tigers in 12 minutes?

When he saw the other Tigers being hit, he must have known the game was up.

A Typhoon had to fire all eight rockets at the same time, not individually.

Where's the damage from the other seven rockets?

Those rockets were like a broadside from a battleship.

Typhoons were not seen/recorded in the area.

So, why did he bomb across that open field?

He was completely exposed from the flanks and above.

It was a huge gamble and it didn't pay off.
