Very beautiful landscapes. I would love to visit such a place.
I love those castles too.
Thanks for sharing these nice photos Alex.
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
.....in advance to that great thread I may have something interessting for you guys. Not far from my location 6. SS Nord fought the big battle before Pfaffenheck, the so called Battle of Lampaden Ridge.
On March 6. 1945 the Nord startet a counter attack against 94ID and 10th armored to cut of the formerly Reichsstraße 268, today B 268 and so slow down the US move of the City of Trier. 6. SS Nord try to get the dominating highs at Dreikopf Hight 510 and hold there Position.
Heavy and fierce fighting took plase which resultet in around 300 dead german´s and around 700 US like newer sources tell.
Meanwhile I found interessting footage from US Signal Corps, filme 1 day after the battel - please watch movie until the end, because video contain 2 rolls of film.
Lampaden March 9 1945 - YouTube
