I dont see why not in the heat of a battle.
Whether these were issued to them is a question to be answered.
Picked up along the way as was ammo and other supporting necessities for battle..I would say yes.

Private purchase knife carried by all branches of military. But if a Vet brought it back there is no way to be sure who had been using it.

Short answer: A directive was issued early in the war that the SS should draw what it needed from Wehrmacht stores. Longer answer: A fairly complicated and time sensitive matter that involved not just small arms etc. the SS also had a different supply chain for clothing etc. (and other heavier armaments). All that said - minus items like an SS Soldbuch or a photo that's connected to the SS - IMO it's just conjecture at this point. Best Regards, Fred
