My advice would be to run away.

Thank you everyone for your information. This item I found for auction in Las Vegas for Clark County Auctions. They do estate liquidations and I'm assuming someone recently passed away and they had this item in possession.
WOW ! That is a new one for me..
I'd rather be A "RaD Man than a Mad Man "
Hi Larry, yes that was very high on my radar as a suspect point of origin. I was just wondering if it was being sold at dealer level and as such passed off as an original but it seems that it was a rather inept auction house of the type that seem to offer items "as seen" and "I don't know I'm just trying to sell the (crap) on behalf of my (paying) clients"
As we all should be aware there are the professional auctioneers with valuable reputation such as Sotherby's et al (some very reliable auction houses specialising in militaria as with the fine arts and antiques) on one hand and small country junk sellers on the other. Caveat emptor, just because it is sold at auction don't assume it is any good or even genuine for that matter! Know your subject and choose a reputable auctioneer.

Mark

Looks like that scabbard and and grip might have the boot polish instant patina.
There’s bad then there’s that example.
The weight of it alone should warn people away.
The auction house has some nerve
