Default NPEA / NAPOLA Kettendolch Eickhorn

Hello community, I'm new here from Germany. Read the extremely helpful infos here from you for a long time. Especially about SA and SS daggers. Now I have time
a little question about a NPEA / NAPOLA dagger. I almost bought it at auction yesterday. But had doubts because of the authenticity. Maybe someone can write me a few lines about it. Unfortunately I only have 6 pictures of the platform. Above I would be very grateful for any information.
Kind regards and thanks a lot for help, Frank

Here is the discription of the dagger from the seller and the pictures i got:

"Hello, I am offering a very nice NPEA / NAPOLA chain dagger in
TOP condition today. The manufacturer is Carl Eickhorn, Solingen.
The motto on the blade is very beautiful and deeply etched,
as is the Eickhorn manufacturer emblem. The handle is made of
very finely grained wood (walnut?) The surface is not painted,
but sanded very smooth. The quillons are incorporated very precisely
into the handle, as is the eagle. The sheath is also in TOP condition.
The sheath and chain are magnetic, the carabiner is not.
The chain rings and the connecting pieces are so excellently soldered
that the soldering points are almost invisible."

Hello Ilse welcome to the forum and sorry to give you some bad news....

    The blade is repro junk.
On these NPEA leaders daggers..Carl Eickhorn did not use a small double oval trade mark as seen in your photo.
The rest of the dagger may be as bad as well...but the blade bins it.

    Hi Larry!
Thank you for your fast answer and your competent informations.
I'm glad now i don't get the dagger. I had a bad feeling in my stomach. Some other bidder shot it for 1110 € that's 1.271 US $.
Now i knew a little bit more about that type of NPEA dagger.

    Best Regards, Frank

Hello Ilse ,glad to help out ...another red flag is that price tag of $1271 US .

Market value for an authentic Chained leader will start in the $4000.00 US range.
That other bidder once he finds out will have a bad feeling in HIS stomach

Larry is quite right about the blade on this chained leader dagger being a reproduction as the double oval logo has never been seen on an NPEA dagger to my knowledge.

There are a couple of other issues with the blade too. One of those is the motto which is incorrect for an Eickhorn. Most NPEA daggers are Bergsmüller marked with Eickhorns being quite scarce. This is a motto picture of a chained leader I own, which has the "over the shoulder" maker mark. I own an Eickhorn student dagger dagger that has the seated squirrel '35-'41 maker mark and the mottoes are identical.

Larry nailed it, the blade says it all.
The logo is a give away but in fact you only need that one picture you showed of the motto.
There is totally no sign of crossgrain its a brushed blade, and that is not period.
Compare it with the blade that Billy shows, eventhough that blade shows quite some aging there is still crossgrain visible.
