Re: Is this a fake or a original Soviet Ssh40 helmet????
There's little question about your helmet being Russian made and Russian used. The form of the liner is typical, the only point of confusion is that it is brown rather than black. Now, it is true that all (?) ssh40 shells exported to Romania had brown liners, which would have Romanian acceptance stamps in both liner and shell. Annoyingly (to me anyway) it is also true that there were Russian ssh40s that also had brown liners, but with all the usual Russian stamps which yours has.
I found this out the hard way by acquiring two ssh40s that I thought were Romanian (using the brown liner as an ID point) only to find that they weren't, lacking the relevant stamps. Damned awkward thing helmet collecting.
Anyway, work your way through the websites on that list I referenced and all sorts of exciting info will be revealed.

Well, yeah. That's pretty much what everyone is saying to you. Obviously no-one could be 100percent certain just going by photographs, but on the basis of what you're showing us, it looks like the genuine article. If it isn't I will certainly be interested in knowing why not.

I own one of these. There is engraving on the back of it though in Russian. Too bad I don't have a good camera at the time..

Hi, woodpecker! Without a doubt - it's 100% Russian helmet with a Russian airliner.
