Hereby the other 2 pictures of the German and British soldiers in the Jeep.
The building in the background is the theatre of Arnhem (Musis Sacrum). The theatre is located at the Velperplein (Velperquare). The Velperplein is in the centre of Arnhem and not that far from the Rhine bridge. Also pictures of the location then and now.
WOW! excellent photos
The Jeep is from an A/T unit of the Royal Artillery as it bears the 46 serial code on the front bumper.
Cheers, Ade.
You are absolutely right. The ‘Unit Formation Number’ 46 indicates that the Jeep had belonged to the 2nd Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery (4th Parachute Brigade). The 2nd Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery was equipped with a total of twelve 6 pounder anti-tank guns which were divided over E-Troop (11 Para Battalion), G-Troop (10 Para Battalion) and H-Troop (attached to 156 Para Battalion). The Jeep was originally used as a tractor for the 6 pounder anti-tank gun.
Sorry for being so off topic. This information has nothing to do with the German helmets which were re-issued by the Red Army.
