Bought an, Soviet, PANAMKA, ( Панамка ) , aka, " The Afghanka Hat " ...

ASFAIK, there´re some different patterns of this hat, am I right ?
Has this, particular, Панамка any chance to has been seen action in Afghanistan actually ?

It is typically designated among the M88 uniform, not M38 panama but M88 panama due to the difference in time and Shape (subtle difference) M38 had embroidered star along a cockade.

Why 88 when it is dated 84?
This model of Panama joined the Soviet army in 74 .

People call it that because of its synonymous relationship with the M88 Afghanka uniform.

Never heard of this especially as the Afghanka uniform has its own cap ...
That said, Panama remains an emblematic element of the Afghanistan period, it is indeed still worn .
